Round 3 of the Australian Kart Championships was conducted at Bolivar, South Australia, May 1 & 2.
Going into the round, Alex Ninovic from Sydney held a healthy points lead with victories in Queensland and Victoria to lead the championship in KA4.
Saturdays qualifying and heat races, the top five drivers were separated by 1/10th of a second.
Heat one saw Alex Ninovic start off position five but soon took control to take the win.
Heat two again starting from position five Alex pushed hard finishing second.
Heat three had Ninovic off second but this was quickly turned into a win, setting up the grid for Sundays two longer distance championship deciders.
Sunday morning, all 35 KA4 competitors were greeted with sunny weather.
Race one Alex Ninovic started on the front row with the lead changing many times. At the flag the young Sydney driver kept his championship on track with a solid second place.
The final was an all in battle, the top five Karter’s putting on an absolute spectacle with the lead changing every lap.
Rewarded with a third place podium, Alex Ninovic acknowledged his fellow competitors saying, “The racing today was very close, the competition is really lifting”.
Alex Ninovic goes into round 4 of the Australian Kart Championships at Puckapunyal Victoria on 187 points, 63 points clear of his nearest competitor.
