Round 3 of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship took place at Puckapunyal Victoria on 3-4-5 June 2022.
Going into this round and leading the KA3 Senior Unrestricted Class, Sydney racer Alex Ninovic had a new PCR Factory supported kart at his disposal. With 48 entrants in the KA3 Senior Unrestricted class fighting for glory, Friday’s qualifying saw Ninovic jnr record the fifth fastest time of 44.598. The level of intensity had Jace Matthews take pole position in 44.520 and the top 20 separated by less than 2/10ths of a second.
With inclement weather making conditions both wet and dry all the teams had to roll the dice with set up to best suit the changing conditions.
Heat one started out of 3rd and finished in 3rd place.
Heat two was out of 4th place and was a rough one, which saw him escorted off the track finishing in 21st.
Heat three saw Alex start out of 11th and was a better result, finishing 6th.
Heat four began from 9th and made ground to 8th place.
This set the grid for the Championship 20 lap final again the rain gods making the choice of slicks or wet tyres decided minutes before the race. ‘AN Racing’ went in favour of wets, this proved to be the smart option.
Midway through the race rain again started to fall giving Alex the motivation to push hard. From 12th position he made some amazing passing moves maximising his advantage of kart setup and inspiring driving. At race end Alex was rewarded with fourth place keeping his championship on track.
Still leading the KA3 Senior Unrestricted Class, Ninovic jnr acknowledges his support team of ‘AN Racing’, PCR Australia, Hamilton Blackstone Lawyers, and Kart Wraps for allowing him to live his dream.
July 15-17th sees Alex and the AN Racing team off to the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship to the Emerald Karting Club in Queensland.
